Challenging the sea

Since the spectacular baptisement in 1984 ThorViking and  crew are challenging the gods and the sea where ever they can.  Under the recent decade ThorViking and Crew have participated in a wide  range of viking time activities - often in close collaboration with other ships and crews.

1995 Värmlands Vikingavecka , Säffle-Arvika  with  Vidfamne, Gothenborg; Embla, Aalesund.

1996 Värmlands Vikingavecka , Säffle-Arvika  with  Viking Plym , Täby; Sigrid Storråda , Blombergs hamm.

1997 Värmlands Vikingavecka , Säffle-Arvika  with  Starkodder, Gothenborg.
The Battle of Foteviken , Falsterbo  with  Sigrid Storråda , Blomberg; Aluett , Karskrona; Erik Emune, Foteviken; Heimlösa Rus , Replot, Finland; Embla, Uppsala.
RT - European meeting , Borgvik, Värmland.

1998 Värmlands Vikingavecka , Säffle-Arvika  with  Krampmacken, Gotland; Glad of Gillberga , Nysäter.

1999 Värmlands Vikingavecka , Säffle-Arvika  with  Sigrid Storråda , Blombergs hamm, Ylva, Gulspång; Glad af Gillberga , Nysäter.

2001-
2004
Various local journeys with Viking ship interested people from all  countries of Europe as well as from USA.

2005 Sailing to "BIRKA" and meeting the trading Vikings at Stallarholmen marketplace.

2006 The scheduled 1 week voyage from Vänersborg to Arvika had to be cancelled.
Protecting the Glafsfjorden but no hostile intruder from  TrätäljareRiket was to be seen nor to be fighted.
Just miles with plain sailing under sunny, blue, hot clear sky’s.

2007- 2011 Just miles with funny sailing in groups with mostly German, highly interested Viking fans. Most impressive the big interest by female crewmembers to prove the tactics and understanding of a Viking time vessel.

2012 We ripped the sail in a hard, sudden gust, the sun had done a good job in 18 years and the 20m2 are now reduced to 18m2. But a brand-new shiny 20m2 sail is up on the square again maintaining manoeuvrability in all weathers. The boat is worth the best material after all the years in service and hence it is made of the finest ind.Silk by the handy sail makers  sail maker Latsch  from the dark German Teutonien forests where the Romans once under Publius Varus Quinctilius   were stopped for ever invading northern Europe and Scandinavia.

2013 ThorViking got a very new painting under water to maintain speed as well as some sponsored spare parts  from the most famous boat pump manufacturer from old Viking Ireland.  I guess  GUSHER  must have experience in keeping Viking ships dry since the first Viking ships were build in Dublin?
